9:27 Bus stop.
9:31 On the bus. Sybil had kindly ordered a ticket to Zurich station for me and got off at the next stop. We told each other “see you tomorrow”, because we were going to meet tomorrow at Geneva airport. CHF 6.60.
I also noticed that there was a screen on the bus that displayed time, estimated arrival time for each station, and connection status. Mind-blown.
9:39 Glattburg station.
9:53 Zurich station.
9:57 Bought an apple strudel from avec. CHF 2.20.
10:00 Onboard. There were few passengers.
10:06 Train departed. It tasted alright, and it had apple seeds, interestingly.
10:15 Ticket check. They checked tickets at least 3 times on that train ride.
11:25 Bern station.
11:26 Platform for the next train.
11:29 Walked forever to the second class car. The train was pretty full.
12:36 Saw a hot guy taking out his ticket from the money belt under his T-shirt. Umm… I was glad I didn’t carry one. Passed by lake Lausanne.
13:17 Geneva station.
13:25 The station was a labyrinth. The weather was hot and humid.
13:35 Walked toward the hostel and realized that check-in was at 2 PM. I walked into an Italian restaurant called Da Antonio nearby for lunch. I ordered a glass of rosé Provence and pizza gorgonzola. Unbelievably, a glass of wine was cheaper than coke. It tasted okay.
13:45 The dough of the pizza was good, and I liked it at the beginning. But when I reached gorgonzola part, it was a little too smelly and too rich for me. Just too much gorgonzola.
14:25 Done. CHF 24.60.
14:30 Checked in. There was a room with high table and chairs, and the lobby had couches and a large TV. The room had three beds. It was small, but had lockers and a sink, so I was content. CHF 32.
15:00 Out. It was hoooot. I was in shorts, but it was still near unbearable.
15:25 Walked to UNOG. It was far! I regretted not taking a bus, especially when I got a free bus pass from the hostel.
15:40 Walked forever to get to the visitor’s entrance. But they were full for the whole day (the guard got almost angry when I asked about a guided tour starting at 4). I got that they didn’t need to be nice to visitors, but it would be nice if they could put a sign saying that it’s full instead of getting mad at visitors.
15:50 Bus stop nearby.
15:56 Tram No. 15
16:03 Got off and went to coop near my hostel and bought a few things. The drink was refreshing. CHF 4.70.
16:40 Watched Roland Garros in the TV room. Women’s final was going on. I hadn’t been following tennis for years, but Sharapova was still loud and good.
17:23 The third set started and I decided to head out.
17:30 Tram No. 15
17:31 Got off at the central station.
17:43 Bus No. 8. The bus stops were extremely confusing. There were 8 different bus stops at the central station.
17:46 Got off at Mont Blanc.
17:50 Jet d’eau. I could see the rainbow! It was cooler because I was near the water. The jet was pretty high.
17:55 Horloge Fleurie (flower clock). I realized that I had been to Geneva during my package tour with my family years ago after seeing this. According to the app “City Guide Geneva”, its second hand is the longest in the world (2.5m).
18:00 Passed by Rolex and noticed that their clock was broken. What a shame.
18:05 Tour de l’ile.
18:20 – 18:45 Promenade de la Treille. The street was romantic. The wooden benches were connected to each other, and it was known as the longest wooden bench in the world.
18:47 Town hall. The canons, murals, and stone floors were all very impressive. Many international treaties were signed here according to the guide.
18:50 St. Peter’s cathedral. It was already closed, so I couldn’t go up the tower. I was unintentionally saving money today by not being admitted anywhere.
19:15 Place du Bourg-de-Four.
19:20 Parc de Bastions.
19:25 Place de Neuve.
19:29 Tram No. 12
19:30 Stop Bel-Air.
19:38 Walked to another stop. I hated the city’s bus stop system already.
19:41 Bus No. 4.
19:44 Stop Cornavin.
19:49 Tram stop.
19:51 – 19:53 Tram No. 15
19:53 Saw a police car racing by with the siren on.
21:00 Talked with an Australian girl with whom I would be sharing the room.
